| I have said that I would try to save HPS fixtures in my city during the LED conversion, and I have attempted several times. The replacement crews refused to let me save any due to “legal issues” and the city themselves also refused. My last chance is to take a trip to the recycling center where they dropped off the HPS lights. I will update here if I am successful.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

That’s just stupid! They’re going to be scrapped anyway.
I know! I went to the recycling center as well as called and they refused to “give them away”. I even offered to pay for each fixture, but they still refused. |

You might have to venture into other cities doing LED conversions as a way of saving fixtures.
Maybe. I don’t see why they would turn down my offer to pay for each fixture though. |

That sucks, usually the case is they'll let you have them for the cost of the scrap value of the fixtures. |

| With so much regulations around and scrunity over everything that's not standard monday workflow, employees (of the city, of the scrapyard, etc) may be worried of doing anything for you - even when there is no actual such rule, as they could get hit hard from their management, with excuses (provided by management) that they are unable to predict (and could as well be made up on the spot)
Not everyone at the facility might see this the same way, so try to ask few people of different roles (independently of each other)

Thanks, I’ll need the luck! It’s unlikely that I will get anything, but there is a small chance. I’m probably just going to get an AEL 115 and a M-400 for the best price I can find on eBay, as those are the ones I was specifically hoping to get. |
