Wow, thats really cool! How old were the fluorescent fixtures?
Unfortunately, most of the cool thrift stores around here are gone. The ones that are left sell mostly clothes. I don't know where all the cool junk goes.

I always go into these stores even if they sells mostly clothes. Who knows what you might find in there. There is one that has a tiny area full of electronics. So yeah. Someday a light fixture might show up there. ;D

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

hey Henry,i dont know how old the fixtures are excactly, but there were some shoplights that looked like This One they also had some old Yellowed Up Wraparound's....not to my suprise none of the flourescent fixtures i tested worked, for the current time being,i didnt buy any of them, but i will eventully as they are super cheap!...they dont sell many clothes, they sell mainly very old electronics, there are a lot of Flouro Tubes just floating around waiting to be broken so i'll have to get some of those eventully too.

Nice lot! Here in the greater Los Angeles area where I'm located there are many thrift shops that sell cool lighting stuff and bulbs. The best ones are ReStore stores, they're thrift shops that sell used construction stuff. I've found lots of good stuff this way. Unfortunately speaking of fluorescent fixtures, I'm mainly interested in old, vintage fluorescent fixtures and most I see in thrift shops arent that old.
By the way, I do remember those ABCO bulbs. That one was made by Philips back in May '93. I think I still have a 4 pack of Canadian ABCO 60w bulbs I bought brand new back then, in addition to some USA made ones. ABCO also imported bulbs from Poland for years.

Form109, you should buy the lights if they look like the one in your uncle's garage.  Even if they do not work, it could be something simple like starters and the fixture would be worthwhile to fix up.  There is nothing from the past 4 or more decades that compares.
