That's the core of the problem. People want things for the lowest price possible and never mind the quality. I'd rather pay more for a product that will last.
An example - we have a set of kitchen knives that are 20+ years old and still as good as new. They cost probably somewhere in the region of £180-£200. Maybe not something a chef would use in a professional kitchen, but as good as you can get for domestic use. Then you see a full set of knives in a supermarket for £20 or even less. How long will they last before you have to get another set
