THEORY: Ge is Pulling a pizza hut. « on: July 15, 2020, 04:11:04 PM » Author: Bulbman256
So i went to target today and went ahead to take a look at the lighting isle. Target is an exclusive ge seller, but there product does Change from time to time. They had released a  new line of leds that had some sort of built in feature (Motion senors, battery backup, 10 and full color choices using a remote, Bluetooth speaker, etc.) Pizza hut is a us chain of pizza restaurants that cant rely apon the fact that there product is of a high enough quality to purchase. So they try to use gimmicky food ideas that are around for a few mouths then vanish. (Hot sauce stuffed crust, garlic bites attached to the end of the pizza etc.) So my Theory is that ge now cant rely apon the fact that there led bulbs are of high quality and value to warrant purchasing (the last Led bulb to do this was the bright-stick line but they discontinued it a few years back.) So they come to use Gimmicky features to push there product to make it seem like the bulbs are worth it. Fo you think this is possible?

Anything's possible, except the manufacture of an L*D that can ever replace proper lighting  8)

Yeah manufactures are dropping other bulb lines for l*ds which is a bad thing, but i think ge now realized that making bulbs from the lowest bidder isnt always the best potion and now people really don't want to buy from them so they released all they new feature stuffed lamps to entice purchasing of there product.

That's the core of the problem. People want things for the lowest price possible and never mind the quality. I'd rather pay more for a product that will last.

An example - we have a set of kitchen knives that are 20+ years old and still as good as new. They cost probably somewhere in the region of £180-£200. Maybe not something a chef would use in a professional kitchen, but as good as you can get for domestic use. Then you see a full set of knives in a supermarket for £20 or even less. How long will they last before you have to get another set  ::)

Same, buying stuff that breaks after a few weeks or days just kinda wasteful so i just usually hold out for the quality stuff. If Ge pulled there act together and made good quality lamps then they would have to invest anything into feature filled gimmicky bulbs.
