Spotted a roadkill Solarmax SMX with double-guyed arm.
Spotted tons and tons of M400s up in Oakland. Possibly mercury vapor too.
Also spotted a temporary traffic setup in Santa Clara, using spanwire signals and Philips RFL fixtures.

Lots of LEDs/EOLED updates.
9 EOL Leotek Greencobras as well as 3 Arietas on just a smaller stretch of road in Nashua.
More EOL Affinity lights on I93.
A new AEL ATB0 in downtown Laconia, replacing an ATB2 for an unknown reason.
The 2 ATBLs at that Laconia apartment complex is now only one ATBL, somebody must've complained about the insane amount of light.

All lighting except LED rules!

Today I found 3 brand new NOS 400 watt metal halide wall packs at my local ReStore for only $10, I ended up getting one of them and in the future might get the other 2 because it is quite rare to find NOS lights

Back to the Coopers. Despite Norwalk, CA using Archeons even with their lackluster performance, more have been installed. A local overpass section had a number of 400W HPS GE M-400As installed during construction in 2016. It appears the signals were owned initially by Caltrans, however ownership may have been transferred to the city recently. As a result Norwalk could’ve inherited those M-400As, and since they don’t service HPS anymore they got replaced by… 400W equivalent Archeons. Unimpressed. The used the largest model and they look dimmer than a 310W HPS. Plus two don’t even work (however it may be a wiring issue). Let’s see if they hold up.

SRP for life.

Been awhile since anyone has posted on this topic.
I went to Phoenix to check out a college I'm considering, and I saw tons of interesting LED lights. Most were 3,000K, but I even saw some in 2,200K.

Yep lol.
Saw an intersection lit by 150w HPS M-400R2 FCOs today. I had always assumed they were 200-250w but I was wrong. From the mid to late 80s.

I was driving tonight, it's great to see the few amount of HPS lamps still in service!

Filament LEDs. Both a blessing and a curse.
|
This evening I noticed a Shell gas station with every single parking lot luminaire EOL. The lights were out entirely save for a small square in the bottom right corner, and the diode boards were visibly charred. I also passed through a small town whose streets are lit ONLY with /DX MV and the occasional LED spot replacement (which seems to come only if something more than a lamp or P/C is EOL). They appear to have just skipped over HPS lighting in its entirety. So cool to see MV luminaires with fresh, bright lamps doing what they do best- running reliably D2D. Town was called New Britain, btw.

HID lighting is the best!!!
|
Just found out last week that most of the 400w HPS Holophane Mongooses in Augusta got changed to LED. It was going to happen sooner or later. Fortunately, they missed some fixtures. But when I drive by there at night it is much dimmer than before. I guess the didn't need that much light to begin with.
