All lighting except LED rules!

Re: Finds of the day « Reply #360 on: May 15, 2022, 02:04:17 AM » Author: thelightingman
Went to my local ReStore today and got a box full of F14T12 lamps, PL fluorescent lamps of various wattages, and a ton of 20 watt 12 volt MR16 lamps. Also included in the box was 4 bulb changers and some weird thing you attach to incandescent lamps to reduce their wattages, it was called "the button". I got all this stuff for only $5.

"The Button" was big back in the 80's ! It was supposed to save energy and prolong the life of bulbs by slightly lowering the incoming voltage and introducing a "soft start" by bring the voltage up gradually instead of instantaneously . My mom bought some back then from one of the mail order catalogs that were so popular back in the day . I wasn't impressed !

This is from a few weeks ago but I scored a 35w SOX lamp with everything needed to run it and it was only 40 British pounds which converts to around $100 AUD. Seller had about 5 of them and I got the last one! So happy to have gotten it as I may never get that good of a deal again. I'm waiting for the package to arrive and hopefully the lamp is intact.

Well I drove 10 hours to Norfolk/VA Beach and fell asleep for some of it but here's what I saw during the drive and while cruising the area:

-3000K Evluma Areamax lights, a Co-op nearby uses them and they look great! Same co-op has MV lights around too!
-An Alleyway OV15 on Atlantic Avenue.
-An industrial side of Norfolk that has M1000s and OV25s in MH and MV.
-A random M250R near a Harris Teeter in Norfolk.
-Tons of HPS still thriving on CT highways!
-MV Cobraheads and NEMA heads (Couldn't ID them because it was so dark when I saw them)
-Jersey Series induction lights in Jersey.
-Noticed the Chesapeake bridge has generic LEDs compared to M400As on streetview.
-LPS tunnel lights in NYC!
-Saw the true glare power of ERL2s, they were 4000K too!
-Sag Lens Holophane Mongoose lights in Worcester MA.
I will add more if I think about any more as time goes on.

Last night was where we were driving around at night and saw most of the MV lights I saw worked! I also confirmed that lots more lights were MV such as a couple M400As and M250R1s. I also saw a few times a couple random fixtures that looked like they were CMH!

Found myself 4 Rymer 2x36w bare battens that were in a trash pile probably due to an LED downgrade.

Yesterday was my trip back home and I saw some stuff that I couldn't last time because it was dark.
- 2 FCO NEMA heads on a random ice dispenser in a small town.
- OV12 and M250R1 MV missouts from GE LEDs.
- A random M400A lighting a small building.
- A couple MV sag lens Cooper OVHs!
- An old parking lot lit with OV25s and some M250R1s.
- 2 neighboring Maryland towns with FCO M250R1/M400R2 looking fixtures (Ark Lighting maybe?) with Donut induction lamps.
- TONS of yard lights, MV, LED, and HPS.
- Pendant style Holophane Refractopacks in NYC.
- Obviously lots of MV and Induction sightings as I passed through Jersey.
- More Purple Autobahns in Tyngsboro Mass.
If I think of anything more I'll update this post.
