Idea to bypass the CA incandescent ban entirely! « on: February 18, 2020, 11:12:49 PM » Author: HPS_250
So I went to a store that had PAR38 LED and halogen lamps side by side, both with price tags on them. The halogen reflectors are banned from sale. They will just sit on the shelf for as long as the store is open. I thought about going back, taking a halogen reflector bulb out and putting it in the box of an LED lamp, leaving the LED lamp there, and just buying it like that. I’m going to try it.

You might as well buy the lamp with its original package. Why don't you do that?

I tried that, but they wouldn’t sell them to me and just tossed all my lamps in the trash.  :o :'( :'(

Yes! I took three PAR38 halogen lamps to the cashier, and he said that he couldn’t sell them. Then he cleared the whole shelf into the trash. I wish I could have saved the lamps  :'(

It’s completely insane! They threw out 12 brand new General Electric 90W PAR38 halogen reflectors. The guy could me that the CA bans restricted then from ever selling them, even on clearance. Then, I went to CVS and tried to buy some Reveal 150W three ways, and those all got tossed in the trash too, 8 packs of them.  :'( :o >:(

Wait, so their using their customers to bring their own stock of halogen lamps to the cashiers, just so THEY can put them in the bin????, that’s not just insane, that’s pure f...... lazy! >:(
If you’re not allowed to sell them, then get them out of the store completely!

Because California is a "greenie". So they ban incandscents and halogens so that everyone would buy LED lamps.  ::) So stupid.....

Possibly they would ban HID lamps too.  >:( ::) California is so dumb, and I hope that the US goverment doesn't do that like California is doing!  >:( Because WE CHOOSE WHAT WE WANT! NOT JUST LED!!!

Luckily I bought up a bunch of bulbs on clearance at Walmart in December 2019. Now they won't sell the few they may have left on the shelf.

sox35 It’s California’s (...) regulations that doesn’t allow stores to sell off any remaining incandescent stock after Jan 1.

That's just crazy. You'd think they'd at least sell what's left, they did here  :sadbulb: ::)

It to totally sucks. At least you were able to get some clearance lamps. I also got a few halogen and incandescent lamps on clearance at Target in December.
