What are the best heat resistant wire coverings? I looked them up and I get a bunch of  results. Including P.E.T. Expandable, Kevlar, vintage cloth coverings and some white woven types.  heat shrink tubing too. I'm looking for something to protect against shorts for when wiring finally decides to dry rot. I've noticed cloth wires outlast rubber but not many things are made with cloth so I need an outer cover to ensure that I get good long lasting safe service out of this light I'm making.

Heat shrink, teflon tube, and glass braid (spaghetti) are good choices for most applications

Heat shrink makes tight isolation but perhaps is not suitable for very hot locations

Teflon tube is stable and lasts well but does not shrink

Glass braid is not sufficient as isolation on its own as it is porous. It provides improved protection over other types of isolation for hot environments
