Somewhere There Is Light(ning)
|
there are some places in the shade of roofs that haven't not been covered in snow for like 3 weeks! To me that doesn't seem anything out of the ordinary to me .LOL. In a 'normal' year here the backyard(north side of the house / shaded) will get covered with snow/ice, and be like that for the whole winter. (same goes for other places that are in shade, north facing slopes of mountains/hills/etc) Spots where the sun hits, the snow will ofcourse melt.

We’ve just had 3 named storms in the UK within 4 days of each other!, that’s quite worrying!, as it’s unheard of here!

We're in for up to 14 inches (possibly more) of snow tomorrow! School has already been canceled a day ahead! Yesterday was really windy here with it seemingly not stopping at all.

Celebrating my 10th Anniversary on LG

The severe storm Eunice in the UK was so bad enough to delay my 1 week visit to Reading by 1 day as LNER, Hull Trains and mostly the GWR line said 'DO NOT TRAVEL' Then for between Saturday to like Thursday it was so stormy but nowhere like storm Eunice. Now as I type its like almost Spring has sprung - definately noticed it whilst I was going to the local DIY shop to get my incandescent bulbs for my parents chandelier in the living room I'm due to go back to Hull on tuesday but sadly the tube strike in London is forcing me to go back Monday evening

Last week was simply f - ing cold multiple days with overnight lows in single digits F (below & above zero), then mid teens for a high on Fri & around 30 for Sat. plus a couple inches of snow each night the first half of the week.
This week forecast has highs in the 60's & lows in the 30's. Its gonna feel warm. .lol.
-------------- I'm curious about those UK 'named storms' .. anyone know what they're equivalent to as far as what we get here in the US. Is it like a subtropical storm? (so similar to a tropical storm...just cold/not as much rain/etc). Or is it more like a blizzard? (just rain instead of snow)..

Its been both warmer & dryer than normal here (and more windy too).
Tomorrow's forecast calls for high winds, low humidity(single digit percentages), above normal temperatures ... and a 'red flag warning' for extreme fire danger. With the wind & dry conditions, in addition to wildfire danger, there's also the possibility of dust-storms.
..And in the far northeast corner of the state, possible severe thunderstorms.
(none of this is normal weather for this time of year here ... but that's nature for you)

We did get the wind & dry conditions on Fri (high of 83-F, humidity of 6%, and wind gusts above 50mph in my area) Luckily no major wildfires in the state. And we did get somewhat of a dust-storm where I am, which was weird. Oh and they did get severe-warned thunderstorms along the eastern edge of the state. (on the moist side of the dryline)
