Long live the HPS and SOX!

This isn’t really “severe” weather, but California has certainly been getting a lot of rain recently. Another 2 inches is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday where I live. It’s great to have so much rain to improve the drought conditions!

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it. I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

Those “ice pellets” are called sleet. I’ve had that before. It will be 80*F where I live on Christmas Day.

Over the night last night we got a little bit of snow but then it began raining, that froze over resulting in everything being covered in an icy glaze. Most of it melted during the day but was pretty cool to see!

Well, mother nature decided to send me coal on Christmas. Right now we’re having heavy rain, and after a crack of thunder (lightning in the Angeles National Forest) early in the morning, it’s pouring rain and my roof is leaking above my room and I can’t turn on the Christmas decorations outside because they’ll trip the GFCI for being wet. As the Eurythmics once said, here comes the rain again.

I can’t turn on the Christmas decorations outside because they’ll trip the GFCI for being wet. Had one trip twice today because it rained. Rain on Christmas eve? w t f is up with that? (don't remember it ever happening before) It aint supposed to rain in December. Period. If it came down to it, I woulda had to run a cord inside to a non-GFI circuit to make the lights stay on.

It was 70 out here on Christmas Eve, going to mass without a coat on was weird for me at this time of year, I feel like January is gonna be a sour turn for weather here in the Midwest.

For Christmas Day we had a bit of rain in the AM, the roads froze over making it a nightmare to travel on them, then later on there was snow that covered over the ice. There were numerous accidents but I believe none were deadly.

Not really 'weather' or severe, but there was a small wildfire in the mountains here today - we're in a drought, & things are very dry due to lack of snowfall..add wind to the mix & things are ripe for a torching. I went down & got some pic's/video from said fire. Haven't actually seen one up close like that before (note 'close' still being a good safe distance)

We’ve gotten an incredible amount of rain in Southern California - my area got 6-9 inches, and Ojai, CA (a nearby city) got SIXTEEN INCHES of rain. I’m sure the drought is over though!

Very strong gusty winds here today. (we were under a high wind warning all day). There's a large wildfire north of me. Very bad situation up there, 500+ homes burned this afternoon/evening.

Chance of up to a foot of snow and strong winds in South Carolina this Sunday This will be the biggest snow I’ve seen since I was off at grad school in NY state. Bad thing about SC is that we don’t have the resources and infrastructure that NY does to handle major snowstorms. I expect some mountain roads to be blocked and I’m really worried about losing power with all the forecasted wind. Wish me luck.

We’re currently getting violent winds and snow. We’re expecting about 6 inches before it changes over to sleet.

We had today ~4*C or 39.2*F at Kiryat Ata, and my A/C, which was operated at heating, kept defrosting once per several hours. Now we have 13*C or 55.4*F at Kiryat Ata.
