can anybody awnser this question

is the form 109 technically a nema head since it has a head that attaches to a reflector/refractor.

Actually, no.  The Form 109 and the first generation L-M Ovalite's optical assemblies attatched differently than the standard NEMA mount.  Now, with an adapter ring you can use the F109 and Ovalite optics on NEMA heads.

Some Form 109s had NEMA-like heads and some had vertical sockets for use with incandescent lamps, but I don't think they'd technically qualify as nemas.

doesnt the form 109 require some sort of adapter to fit on a nema head?
