What I don't understand is how they could advertise that the color temperature is between 2700 and 7000K, when it's virtually impossible for HPS lamps to produce anything but orange light. I'm sure their life rating is inaccurate as well; CFL ballasts overheat and quit rather prematurely sometimes, imagine a compact HID lamp! I'm sure those would be MORE likely to set on fire, especially with the poor quality control of Chinese-made goods.

actually they make White HPS lamps which are about 2500K...and if you overdrive those the color will shift even higher!

Even will shift to green if seriously overdriven. (After that it's ker-booom!!) Dave over drove a 50w HPS on a 1000w MV ballast. Dunno where that is.

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech? LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).
LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

I suppose I could live with an HPS lamp that was 2500K (even though I prefer cooler temperatures like 4100 and 6500K), I'd probably prefer that over a 2700K CFL, only because I like HIDs and linear fluorescents better than CFLs. You know what's funny? When CFLs first came out, I thought they were super cool, but now that they have become SO commonplace (and have lost their novelty factor), I am reverting back to my old preferences! I'm sure I'm not the only member of the gallery that feels that way!

Zero 88 Lighting Controls Rule!

I think that the lamp in that pic is actually really cool and would be a great novelty item!

The future of street lighting is Induction, not nasty HPS lights or cr@ppy LED lights! Preheat CFL's should make a comeback!

Rare white reflector

Dunno about you guys but personally I think this thing looks ugly. A tube sticking out of a plastic ballast casing that would burn up? I don't think so!

External look: If materials are properly made, it might work. But the IF is not achievable from chinese... As second, the ballast look's like boosted version of CFL high frequency one. I wonder, how they solve the acoustic resonance? My guess (as it's Chinese), they don't care...
