So for the color temps that I use for lighting 5000k lamps for my room, and my restroom, and everywhere else in my house (except the laundry room, closets, and garage, which uses 5000k to 4100k) is 3000k to 2700k lamps. When I go to bed for my night table, I use 2700k lamps. Whats yours?

I use 4000K Lumilux lamps for under cabinet in the kitchen. Otherwise, a mixture of halogen and incandescent in most places. The living/dining room has a coated Osram Powerball of 50W and 3000K in a table lamp. Very nice light source. Other than that, a couple of F15T8 in GE SP35 (Hungarian).
The basement has a mixture of 3500K spiral CFL, Philips F40T12 Cool white supreme, one CDM 35W 4000K, one 9W CFL quad tube preheat start, and the odd CW or other colour. The shed has one 50W MH of 4000K (Satco/Hygrade).
Regarding the living/dining MH, I have plans for a 70W version, but have run up against the idea brick wall for the moment. I have lamps and ballasts, but that's it. The main challenge, with the brightness of the lamp, is to find a suitable shade that is tall enough to hide the lamp unless you are really too close, but not tall enough to be hideous. I'll find something someday...

Down with lamp bans!
|
We use mostly 2700-3000K in all living areas except my mom's office, which is 5000K. The garage has a mix of 4100-6500K, and the basement has a mix of 3000-6500K.

Celebrating my 10th Anniversary on LG

In our house
6500K CDL CFLS in my bedroom and computer room (mainlights) 4000K CW CFLS in my bedroom and living room (floorlanterns) 2700K Philips SLE CFL in upstairs corridor 2700K Lyvia 9W CFL in downstairs corridor 3000K circline 60W lamp in kitchen 4000K fluorescent fixtures in conservatory and utility room incandescent and halogen lamps in our living room, piano room and dining room chandaliers
When its past Halloween I will replace the Philips CDL CFLS with the WW Philips SLE CFLS as the CDL light is so welcoming during the summer, actually makes a cloudy summer day not so bad feeling honestly! I really HATE when my parents decide to switch on any WW lighting source during the day, if someone turn on the light during the daylight hours, its strictly 4000K or higher

Somewhere There Is Light(ning)
|
I'm only going with the main lighting in rooms here..so I'm excluding any decorative/accent lights, and ofcourse anything not installed like table/floor lamps.....
Bathrooms: Incandescent (and always will be) Bedrooms: Different lights in different rooms, but most are some form of 'warm white' (the one I sleep in has a whole bunch of different colors) **A bunch of different types too T5-HO, T8,T12** Diningroom: Incandescent (and always will be) Familyroom (main): Fixtures are there but contain no ballasts or lamps, since I can't find the parts I need at a reasonable cost. **would be F32T8** Familyroom (basement): 3000k+6500k, switched separately (sadly room is only used for storage now) **mostly 4-footers, but there are a few shorter ones too** Garage: a random mis-matched mix of everything from 3000k to 6500k there's even a gro-lux out there. (and a majority of the lamps are EOL) **F40T12 & F96T12-slimline** Hallways: 3000k **F40 & F20** Kitchen: Each fixture has a 3000k + a 3500k lamp **F28T5 & F21T5**

3000k to 4100k. Anything above 4100k is too hard on the eyes for me.
