That's the STUPIDEST thing I have EVER seen-I would gut that LED crap and put the orig HID back in-the antennas make it look utterly ridiculous!!!!Looks like something you would see on the cartoons!

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site. Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.
I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).
I lives in Israel, which is a 220-240V, 50hz country.

What on earth would you need Wi-Fi for anyway? To turn it into a spy device. maybe? Or possibly just so it could be controlled remotely?

The wifi is not related to the lighting operation. It is either provided by the city for people to use. or for reading smart meters etc. The streetlight is however about the only thing installed in the street, getting power (without needing to install a new service for every wifi AP)
What is ridiculous about some of those wireless systems - They could of left the antenna inside the luminaire (in the optical compartment, or in case of luminaire body made of Fiber - anywhere in the luminaire) and it would work the same, there is no need to poke the antenna out...

I think this is a viable idea. I liek the light, and if i had bought it, would probably leave it LED (at least until the panels finally burn out).

its a demo unit. 5mm wont do squat up on a pole but close to the floor at a trade show they would be fine. and good 5mm on a board with heavy copper traces will last. problem is most 5mm are garbage. unless cree, nichia, yuji, ect.

Looks like someone tried to turn this into a PC case mod judging by all those electronics in there.
