Clearance items at Lowes « on: March 10, 2018, 08:07:22 AM » Author: Cole D.
I stopped at Lowes and Home Depot and I saw that Lowes had several lights on clearance.

I was looking at the HID and LED outdoor lighting and most is on clearance. They had HPS buckets on sale for $38. I also saw the cylinder wall fixtures, the LED ones were on clearance for $20 which I thought was still quite expensive.

Strangely, there was a Utilitech cylinder wall light with CFL bulb sitting on the shelf, it looked like it had been there awhile and the box was really dusty, there was no price anywhere around it so I'm not sure if it was on sale or not. There were no others like it to be seen anywhere and none on display either, all of the other cylinders were LED. I may go back and see if I can them to scan it and see if it's on sale because I'd like to have another one.

Some of the regular fixtures have gotten cheaper too like the drum ceiling lights are now $9 instead of $12.

I'll wait till they lower the prices on the lighting clearance. Were they're any fluorescent fixtures on clearance, by any chance?

Over where the light bulbs are, there were some 2x2 lay in fluorescent fixtures on clearance but I didn't see what the price was. They were with the clearance light bulbs in an area fenced in with concrete blocks and 2x4s.

Other than that I didn't see any unless they were with the rest of the fixtures. All the rest of the clearance fixtures I saw were just on the shelves with everything else. Like I said the prices didn't seem to be that much lower, only like $2 off or so.

Also I did some research on that Utilitech 13W cylinder fixture and it seems it was discontinued in 2016. It doesn't come up on Lowe's website. Wonder what would happen if I tried to buy it, how much it would ring up.

Well I went back and bought that Utilitech 13w porch light. I took it to the register and told them I wanted to know how much, they couldn't get it to come up in the system so they called someone over and they said they would check. I was afraid they would say $20 because that's how much the LED ones are but they said only $5. So I said sure I'd buy it for that.

But when I got home and opened the box there wasn't the fixture inside, but there was a used white lantern with a hole in the canopy and all that was there for what I thought I was buying were the instructions and a bag of hardware. :(

I'm just going to throw this out or donate it to Habitat and buy one on eBay. They have some for $13 which are the same thing but the Eaton brand. Home Depot still sells Regent 13W CFL ones but they're still $25 because HD hasn't switched to LEDs yet.

Well thats bad, on the second paragraph. When I go to these clearance isles for lighting items, I usually open the box to see its the right item to buy. Just don't get caught by an employee, like I did in the past.  :o

I don't know why I didn't think to check it, I sometimes do check inside the boxes as long as they're not sealed shut.

I wanted to add, I went to Lowes today and noticed the HPS bucket light on display was marked down to $38, but they are all sold out now. All they have in stock was the fluorescent bucket lights and the MH bucket was still on display, but none were left either. But Home Depot still has all of these, and the HPS ones are $44.
