I have a slight modification for one of the ones you posted that I regularly use when referring to someone as "not the brightest bulb in the box". It's a play on "not the sharpest tool in the shed".

"That thing runs like a 100w bulb on a 1000w ballast!"
Referring to a Dodge Demon or something really fast.

Another version, "That thing popped like a 100w bulb on a 1000w ballast!"

"She's gotten a little noisy lately , windings must've worked loose" most times referring to objects, not people.
