It really could be anything, the picture is quite terrible no offense, very blurry, but I would make a good guess and say it's mercury Vapour, do you know what colour it lights up at night?

The lantern looks be too simple to have an external ballasted HID lamp, so being elliptical, it is most likely mercury tungsten blended lamp (Self-ballasted mercury lamp). When turning on, it starts bright halogen 3000K color from the ballasting incandescent filament, and gradually changes to 3500K pinkish white.

Probably self-ballasted mercury tungsten blended lamp.

So basically it is a mercury Vapor lamp with a incandescent lamp in it as well, so it does not need a ballast, the incandescent lamp acts like a ballast
