Man that one close call for the cameraman but unfortunately can't say the same for the fixture. Finally ol' Zeus is doing something about the HPS infectation. We had a storm here in NC last week and got a big flash in the backyard and loudest thunder I ever heard in a long time. Looked to be 1/4 of a sec between flash and thunder, which is about a football field lenght away. Very close.

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

Now no wonder why New Jersey has a lot of clear mercs :-D    This video was filmed in Brick, New Jersey by the way! Actually the lighting struck the transformer, you can see the building power went off, and the person who filmed it mentioned it in the comments on that video, but then again great video!

Wow. People sure used to hate HPS back in 2008. Now, it seems like no one cares anymore about HPS and is now hating LED. By the way, I have never heard of an LED streetlight getting hit by lightning... great, here come the conspiracy theorists.

The lightning strike turned off all the lights in that area, not only the lantern that it struck. If it was a LED lantern, this would ends in a fire.
