I just got a GE constant color CMH self ballasted PAR38 lamp today and spent the evening figuring out where to use it.
For now it's in one of my track lights highlighting some glass collectibles.
I like the color of the light but it's not so good on red objects.
For $13 though I couldn't pass it up especially since I've seen several members on here buy them.

We have a couple of the Philips 240V version of these, which are 25W rather than the rather strange 23W. The colour is very similar to incandescent, which is probably why we like them :par:

I changed the bulbs in the bathroom back to incandescent after a week or so experiment with GE Relax filament LED A19s.
Nice! I would experiment with cold light incandescents and fluorescent tubes for bathroom lighting.

Not sure how to describe the color from the GE that I have. It's slightly warm like incandescent but it's still seems like a cooler white light and as I mentioned red objects don't look to good under it. The listed color temp is 3000K with a CRI of 81.

I guess the best way to describe mine is something like pale incandescent and white light like halogen.

Decorated the front of my house with incandescent Christmas lights.

I also organized some 100w MV lamps.

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

A few days ago..
Put up Christmas lights outside.

Put up a magenta-colored tree inside, and used pink LED lights in it.

--------
Yesterday..
Wasted probably a couple hours trying to get a controller for the outside Christmas lights working right... turns out I had a cat-5 cable with a bad end on it.

Put up some more lights outside(mostly done now)

Put up another tree inside, in this case a white tree (lights I used were home-done LED twinkle green). Plan to do another white tree (probably today) with the same type of lights but blue.

--------
There's a set of lights I need to fix outside, but the roof is covered with snow/ice...and 3 stories up is a long way down... :o
(might just have to get the hose up there & use it to melt the snow/ice in that little section I need to get to) .LOL.

I fixed some loose screw bases on a couple of HID lamps I have. One a Philips 175w R40 mercury, the other a no name 70w HPS.

In case you were wonder how I fix them, you have to desolder the leads from the base, apply a suitable adhesive (I usually use Gorilla Glue), use tape or some means to clamp the base to the bulb for around 2 hours. Finally you solder the leads back to the base.

For good measure I'll let the lamp run up after I'm done for about an hour to test the repair job.

We use Gorilla Glue as well.  :)
It has the added bonus that it cures with the application of heat.  8)

yesterday I spent a few hours increasing the T8 brightness in some areas of a church building by pulling out the .40 amp ballasts and bumping them up to .50 and .80 and replaced the 3000k tubes in those fixtures with 4100K tubes.  Going to have some more fun at that building tomorrow and maybe tonight.  That building has blue and white accents so it favors the 4100k much better vs the 3000k.  Most of the 3000k tubes are still in good shape because they were using programmed start ballasts, so I'll take those tubes over to other buildings where they have 4100k which favors 3000k due to the accents, and swap out :)  I'm bored, what can I say :)
