Broke a GE F30T12. I had a F30T12 undercabinet light I rescued from the curb. Anyway I had it leaning against the wall outside, I went inside to get something and I came back out just in time to see the light topple into the ground smashing the lamp into bits and chipping the end of the diffuser. Ehh at least it was a cheap modern "Made for GE" undercabinet light and the ballast in it is half dead and I got it for free. Still had to spend time sweeping up the bits. At least it was outside.

Well this was yesterday, but I never got round to posting it: We wired up one of our Appleby bulkhead fixtures and lit it. Photos to come later today,

Well , this kinda classifies as lighting. Today I decided to basically "irradiate" my bathroom . This was accomplished by placing one of my 400w MV streetlights upside down on the floor with the refractor removed and a broken 400w MV lamp installed. I ran an extension cord out of the door so I could plug it in from the other room and let the wonderful UV rays do their thing for about 25 minutes . DIE LITTLE GERMS !!!

Long live the HPS and SOX!

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it. I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

I went out at night to the parking lot of a 1960s office park near me to take photos of mercury vapor and HPS cobraheads there.

Today, I got some bulbs from the Restore and thrift.
Yesterday I went out on a walk to check out the streetlights as there was a localized blackout the neighbourhood over from mine for a few hours due to a storm and it was interesting to see which lights were affected.

I just got a GE constant color CMH self ballasted PAR38 lamp today and spent the evening figuring out where to use it. For now it's in one of my track lights highlighting some glass collectibles. I like the color of the light but it's not so good on red objects. For $13 though I couldn't pass it up especially since I've seen several members on here buy them.

Been busy replacing a bunch of Philips 800 series F32T8 fluorescent tubes that are reaching EoL after only a few years and not very heavy use. The dang weak filaments that plagued the 800 and 700 series also kills the long life that Philips was once famous for. Replacing with new Sylvania F32T8s 3000 and 3500k.
