Which wattage will you buy? 100w or 150w HPS? I remember there was two different listings of AEL 115s in 100w and 150w HPS, but have the same price.

I didn’t buy it yet, but the one I found is 100w HPS. I’m considering that one so I can run a 100w Ceramalux lamp in it.

Here it is:

I’ve always been interested in all kinds of lighting, mainly incandescent and HID, and especially all kinds of sodium lamps (HPS/LPS). I’ll tolerate LED but I’m not a fan of it.
I’m not proud to say that my city has Devolved to LED.

Over the weekend I replaced 2 ballasts for the kitchen lights in my mother's condo.
Both were original and gave 45 years of faithful service.
They were both Universal Therm-O-Matics and each one was used for 1 F72 slimline lamp.
The replacements that I installed were also made by Universal.
The fixtures themselves were made by Stanley Electric.
While she was happy to have her kitchen brightly lit up again she is disappointed that we can no longer buy F72 slimlines in the daylight color anymore.

Cool! When were the replacement ballasts made? Would be cool to get a pic of them especially being single-lamp F72 lights in a kitchen!

The replacements are brand new electronic ballasts.
Yeah I know electronic not popular around here but finding magnetic ballasts for F72 slimlines well I didn't see that happening anytime soon especially single lamp ballasts!
Besides my mother really needed light in her kitchen!
I have pictures of the original ballasts that I will try to post soon.
Sure wish I could find F72 daylight lamps!!

I personally would have done the same, a electronic slimline ballast isn't that bad and better than tandemizing or LEDizing a 6ft fixture.

Single lamp slimline ballasts are really rare, I think I've only come across a loose one once.

This was a few days ago but some crackhead dumped a half gutted commercial drink fridge in my neighbor's yard. It had most of the parts removed and the refrigerant lines were cut (no doubt that they just vented the refrigerant straight into the air) and so I saved as many parts as I could before they got rid of it. One of these was a Sylvania quicktronic F17T8 ballast. Along with that, I also got the compressor and condenser assembly out but I haven't decided what to do with them yet.

Removed a Philips PL-S 13w/827/2P Alto (to retire for the collection) and installed a Philips PL-S 13w/830/2P Alto in its place.

Rigged up and lit our US spec 35W HPS lamp on the correct S76 ballast running off our US inverter which gives us 115V at 60Hz.  :hps: :cat: :bulbman:

Today, I was working on making plug-in ignitors for 70w metal halide wall packs so that I can switch between metal halide/European external ignitor HPS and mercury vapor/European internal ignitor HPS very easily.

Today, I was finally able to operate a 60w SLI/H linear low pressure sodium fixture off American household mains although it does not have the ideal ballast.

Here is my posting of this beautiful low pressure sodium fixture lit up:
