My tabletop studio halogen lights are doing well. But after leaving them on, I checked the temperature of the plastic enclosure, and it was over 300 degrees! And that's in a cold room. Are they going to melt and cause a fire?

If they have the correct wattage lamps installed, they should be fine.

50watt GU10 halogen lamps are not good!, I have pulled them out at work when they start to melt nearby wiring!!, if you can smell burning of any kind, then something isn`t right?

If it really did originally come with those lamps and it really is smelling like burning plastic, then it was not designed well at all.

I think this is what these lights are. But the good news it that it says that you will be normally be smelling a burning smell, but the plastic is not melting. Sounds a little odd.
