The end of an era folks. These guys were never popular in their day anyway, probably because Hubbell finds itself justified to put a 200% mark-up on all their products versus the competition because they claim to be a superior brand. Their stuff is good, but ain't 200% better than the competition lol.

At least I have never seen any of those cobraheads here.

Lots of RMG's here tho, installed from late 80s till mid 90s. Were imported gearless and fitted with 230V gear by the importer

Well I am annoyed about that, but if GE or AEL discontinue their cobraheads I am going to write them an angry letter.  (I probably wouldn't do that but I would be quite irritated as there would be no place to get cobraheads anymore.

I'm predicting GE will be the first to discontinue cobraheads. They're a very progressive forward-thinking company (yet they made T17s for 70 years after the fixtures were discontinued while everyone else abandoned them by the 90s, so who knows). GE has already eliminated their PSMH street lights. Cooper and AEL still make them, but probably on a made-to-order basis with a long lead time.

GE and Cooper are the largest cobrahead companies so I expect them to still be around awhile. AEL might discontinue them before GE or Cooper, but like I said, GE is a forward thinking company so who knows. I'd say cobraheads (at least in HPS) will still be made for another decade. In another 10 years we may be in real danger of loosing the cobrahead (new ones anyway; old ones will likely still be around here-and-there for a good while)

Cobraheads are going to have the same fate as bucket light street lights in urban areas.

I guess so.  It's too bad that cobraheads are going away, but I guess the design isn't practical with LEDs.
