What's your favorite fluorescent tube size? Mine is the F15T8. They are: Small Cheap Versatile Readily available Easy to run Old enough to have some nice vintage fixtures Immune to energy efficiency laws

Mine would have to be 5 foot 58watt T8 or 65watt T12, their the only tube here that don`t seem to suffer in cold? 4 and 6 foot tubes here DON`T like our cold winter mornings, even the old 8 foots needed a few minutes to get up to temp, but the 5s seem to get there quite quickly.

Maybe it's using a different gas fill or higher wattage than normal?

The british T12 (Except the 8ft 100W), use pure argon. The retrofit T8 and the 8ft 100W T12 uses krypton. I think that the longer and the thinner the lamp, the more sensitivity of the lamp to cold temperatures. Krypton don't have problem with ambient temperatures that argon don't have, and that xenon have. T5, 2D and CFLs being slim and small, are even more sensitive to low temperatures. Before the retrofit T8 appeared here, We had only 4-13W T5, 20W, 40W T12 and american 110W T12 rapidstart lamps, as well as circular lamps of 22W, 32W and 40W.

I"m don't speak English well, and rely on online translating to write in this site. Please forgive me if my choice of my words looks like offensive, while that isn't my intention.
I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).
I lives in Israel, which is a 220-240V, 50hz country.

I don't like them because they are: Clunky Hard to store Really hard to install by yourself Affected by efficiency laws

Those are good for large areas, such as a gymnasium.

I don't have any issues installing F40/F48 lamps alone, and I don't think F48/HO is subject to efficiency regulations.

Well, it's hard when you don't have a good standing position, or it will take several minutes to install a lamp.
