What If...? « on: June 25, 2016, 09:31:59 AM » Author: wattMaster
What If you installed WW tubes in color filled areas like the Crayola Experience? (Crayola Experience is a Florida touristy place that likes to boast about crayons and color, I have never been there.) That would make the colors look washed out and not interesting.
What If you tried to run MV on Probe Start MH/HPS ballast?
What If you had a microwave power a lamp with water to absorb some of the power to keep the lamp stable?
What If you lit an area up at night enough to mimic sunlight?
What If there was a Menards in Florida?
What If I went to Illinois?
What If you made your own What If questions and posted it here?

- "That would make the colors look washed out and not interesting."

What If you tried to run MV on Probe Start MH/HPS ballast?
- MV on a probe MH ballast WILL work. On an HPS ballast, you would have to remove the ignitor and even then it may not work.

What If you had a microwave power a lamp with water to absorb some of the power to keep the lamp stable?
- Good question.

What If you lit an area up at night enough to mimic sunlight?
- It would use a lot of energy.

What If there was a Menards in Florida?
- You'd probably go.

What If I went to Illinois?
- You'd probably go to Menards.

What If you made your own What If questions and posted it here?
- What if I didn't?

What if you run a MV on a HPS ballast? Would only work with 250, 400, I am unsure of 100. 150 is a toss up since there's the higher voltage s56.

What if you went to Illinois? Why'd you come here, it's a barren wasteland. As nick said, Menards. They have the juicy Sylvania 8000k fluorescents. 8)

More specifically, when I talk about HID ballasts, I am always referring to my electronic Lumatek ballast. I guess that would work, right?
The one little problem is trying to get a MV in 250 or 400 Watt form.
I've always wanted to go to a place like Illinois, it seems it would be a good break from the touristy-ness of Florida.
And why don't any other stores have the grand 8000K fluorescents?
What If there was a fund started to spread 8000K to the southern states?
That being said, I could take a road trip there (around half a day nonstop) or fly, but then no FL tubes for me.
I can only imagine what a workshop would look like lit with these.
What If someone made a comparison between SOX and the more grand 12000K fluorescents?

I found some 250w /DX Sylvania mercs on a shelf in the local menards. They were not priced so I asked a cashier and they were $16 each. I have one in use right now. Check your menards.

There are no Menards stores in Florida! :D
The only places I could look are:
Home Depot - Found a 250 Watt Philips DX for $19 online.
Lowe's - Only found 175 Watt online.
Ace Hardware - I don't think they have any, each store has different items. I don't think the local one has 250/400 Watt MV.
Update: I went to home depot and got the 250 watt MV.

Set your electronic ballast to MH mode and it should run an MV. I assume the MH setting is for probe start MH.

The ballast decides if the lamp is MH or HPS, you only select the wattage.
That presents a problem, which to try first?

Anyway, What If... There was a true sun simulator lamp, with high CRI, daylight color temperature, and UV B?
