I wonder if it was modified. You can't get 125w mercs anymore, but maybe the light was modified?

I closely looked at the pics of the labels, one each for ballast & for the head. Looks original to me enough to quickly buy it.

Sorry to break your bulbs George but this is only a 100w ballast labeled as 125w. That is why the regent bulbs are 100/125. The old ones had advance ballasts of proper rate. It's like how 175w blasters have 150w actually rated ballasts.

Is it good that I have some 100/125w Regent MV lamps from 15 years ago? Or are they re-branded too?

These are even labeled as H-38, which is the ANSI code for 100 watt MV.  I believe a true 125 watt MV would be H-42.

Yep realized that just yesterday. Even at $40, 100watt mercury yard light is still desireable by me in any case.

Actually, how would those drive one of the new 175W lamps ith 125W arctube ? Is the voltage close to that of the proper 100W/125W lamp ?

Maybe lighting manufactures are paid to the government to make these bulbs that will destroy the ballast!

The Utilitech lamps sold at Lowes apparently have a 125w arctube. You would never catch me using one of them long term in a yardblaster (or any mercury fixture for that matter)

Actually, wouldnt they be ok for some lower wattage ballast ? Waht is the arc voltage of one of them vs. of proper 100W lamp ?
