I have 2 LU100 EYE Lighting 100W HPS lamps.  I have 1 made in March 2012, and 1 made in October 2015.  When first installed, they turn orange and just get bright, but I've started to notice that as they get older, they will look like a clear Mercury lamp and reach full intensity before the orange sodium vapor even ignites.  Do any other brands (Philips, Sylvania, GE) do this, or just EYE Sunlux lamps?

This is a normal behavior of aged HPS lamps, to get a mercury color during run-up before getting a reddish orange or pink color at full brightness.

@Ash: Why do you think that the later HPS from the beginning of the 2000s, don't gets redded out and gets mercury color at EOL. Here and here is an extremely rare case of a near EOL redded out Osram NAV(SON)-E 250W china (Seen such an Osram NAV(SON)-E china only once, the rest "temporary cycler" Osram china lamps had a color of a new HPS lamp). Also, we had a lot of redded out Osram NAV-E 250W 4Y inside the Schrede Sepale, that has been replaced by the last year.

Here, all HPS lamps that getting redded out or reaches mercury color, cycles virtually. Here is a video of a HPS lamp that cycles in bluish mercury color.
