Osram Smartlux pro T8. What are those? « on: April 10, 2016, 10:10:57 AM » Author: Roi_hartmann
Today I visited Osram's website and there was this Smartlux pro T8 fluorescent lamps that I have not noticed before. There was very little info in the datasheet so does someone know how do these differ from a standart lumilux lamps and where these were intended to be used? These seems to have atleast slightly shorter lifespan than normal lumilux lamps.

Maybe it's a higher CRI, Or it could use "Eco" materials.

I've seen their Smartlux T5 : These are probably the low cost version of the Lumilux, as the only differencies is that the Lumilux made in Italy, and the Smartlux in China.

I only working with the international date format (dd.mm.yyyy).

Then I wonder what does that smart refer to. How is it smart in any way to make a product that is poorer quality than the original one? Or how pro is that either? BUt I guess that it's cost cutting once again.  ::)

They are rebranded cheap Triphosphor tubes

"Smart" is just a keyword to improve sales. I dont think it is smart to buy them when the proper version made in Germany (or Italy in case of some T5) is available. I am however concerned that they might be experimenting with the Smartlux now, in intention to discontinue the Lumilux later and maybe make the Smartlux the new Lumilux..
