Here is something interesting, How to make a good LED light.
LEDs can still be useful!

1. What period in time are you? Are you in 1964 or 2016?
2. Where are you going to get your chips? Cheapie Chinese or higher end?
3. What phosphor are you using? Basic yellow, Pale colors, no reds, High K value. Multi phosphor,
Simulates daylight, bright colors, lower K value.
4. Where are you using your LED? Ceiling fixture, outdoors, night light?
5. What power source are you using? 12 volt, 24 volt, 120 volt, 240 volt? 3 Phase?
6. What package LED are you using? 5mm, 3mm, SMD, COB?
7. What heat dissapation is likely? Big or small heat sink?
8. What budget do you have? Tight, or luxury?
9.(Most important) Are you using your LED in a place where other lighting technologies would be better?

You've finished the LED checklist. Did you get a good or bad fixture?

Lots of LED fixtures have weaknesses. Good point!

Not only LED's.
But with LED's still more of them are yet to be discovered, nothing unexpected given the rather short time they are on the market (I mean as the power illumination sources)...
