RIP To 3M Traffic Lights « on: November 13, 2015, 05:05:49 PM » Author: Steele1992
The intersection near my house with all the 3M lights is numbered days. They are going to put in a stupid roundabout there. They cut down one of them in 2013. But yeah....i'm sad

I collect exit signs, preferably vintage ones.

I also have a little bit of a thing for light bulbs, too. Of course, hoarding them due to the incandescent bulb ban.

I thought 3Ms were cool even before I was into collecting traffic lights. So I was happy to be able to get a pair.
3M got out of the business a couple of years ago, but McCain still makes similar, inferior signals. Intellight made some signals that used software to selectively disable rows of an LED grid, but this is out of production for redesign, it had problems with water ingress.

You can see them in my gallery. They are from the 1970's. Original PVS'es.

I didn't know you had roundabouts in the US I always thought they were a British thing. Never saw any when I was in Florida a few years ago

Americans have nicked them because they think they are energy efficent. But here in America we have 50 foot long 18 wheel trucks and they put those roundabouts on trucking routes. It's moronic.

I hate roundabouts. They are everywhere in Florida and often dipshit the wonder truck tries to get thru it (barely).

I may be strange-there is one "roundabout" in my area--going thru it is kinda fun!WEE!!like a merry-go-round.But- good point these would be a nightmare for large trucks.

The well engineered roundabouts work great.  People are starting to get the hang of them in the USA.  I would much rather have a roundabout than a traffic signal on 2 lane road intersection.

This is a 4-lane one way running north/south, with the southbound half being two-way.  east-west is a 4-lane 1-way with the east way being 2 way, and the west half of the 4 lane splits off to an additional 2 lanes that arc southward that merge with the one-way half of the 2-way 4-lane going south.

I hope I explained it right. It would be easier to draw on a map.  lol

SeberHusky, I am looking to trade a lady two pure Great Pyrenees pups from my girl for two pure Husky pups next year when she breeds her dogs.  I have always loved those dogs and she loves Great Pyrenees.

Yeah, I'm thankful there won't be any roundabouts in the areas I'll be driving in while in college.  Especially considering at that point I'll be a still-relatively-new driver, possibly in a 1971 "Deuce and a Half" (2-1/2 ton military surplus 6X6). When properly engineered, they do work, but only for smaller cars, not larger trucks!
