Mystery streetlights on New Brighton Blvd. « on: November 03, 2015, 10:50:59 PM » Author: Lumex120
On New Brighton Blvd. in Minnesota, there are these cobraheads that look like m-1000s, only they are very small. They are MV, and don't even appear to have room for a ballast in them, but no remote ballast is visible. I don't have any pics yet, but there are very few left, as most of the fixtures are HPS shoeboxes. Anyone seen or heard of these? :-\

I have a vague idea of what you are talking about, but I need more details and maybe a picture. Would you say a joslyn spaceship of sorts?

Remote ballasted OV25s perhaps?

I like my lamps thick, my ballasts heavy, and my fixtures tough.

Nick is one to something. Perhaps concealed Postline ballasts or the ballast is in the base of the pole. Is the base of the pole big and boxy like it would be for a typical clamshell?

They don't look anything like them. The pole bases are no larger than a regular streetlight pole. It may sound weird, but they could probably have postline ballasts in the pole. I will try to get pictures of them soon.

Those are remote ballasted OV25s.

Yep, clamshell OV-25s on davit poles. Must be series wired or remote ballasted somewhere.
