I don't drive, so I ride a bus. Which is fine by me because I like buses. Ever seen a Geo Metro?
My Dad had two of them back in the day, both 1991 2-door 3-cylinder hatchbacks. The first was a 5-speed, and then when it got too rotten to be roadworthy, he found an automatic with a bad motor, and had the motor from the first one put into the second. They are neat cars.

sounds like I got one of the smallest cars here. I may have you beat there. It was just a rental, but I had a Chevy Spark for 5 days in Alabama. Had to fold down the whole back seat to fit my suit case, but it was otherwise not a bad car. When I turned it in, the LOW FUEL light had just come on, but it only cost about $16 to refill. As far as what I own, I have 2 vehicles. One is a 1999 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 that I've had for 14 years and is approaching 200,000 miles. My other car is a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 with a stick shift. I've had it for 12 years and it has 165,000 miles on it. I drive the ZX2 to work, while I drive the Cherokee on weekends and snow days. Not that I need it, but I maybe getting a 1993 Isuzu Trooper from a friend. The engine may or may not be shot in it, which will determine it's future.

And what is an Isuzu Trooper?
Isuzu TrooperIt has a knock in the engine, which could be minor or really bad. They had a common issue with the timing belt tensioner failing causing a knocking sound. They also had oil consumption issues that if not caught in time would lead to spun bearings and rod knock.

Looks like a good Fairbanks vehicle to me! Good on the freeway, but also good on all the dirt roads once you get out of town. My mom had an '87 Cadillac DeVille with a horrible knock (broken push rod) but continued driving it around town for years, just not on the freeway!
I know I already mentioned it once, but I may be ending up with a '71 Deuce and a Half, which would in that case probably be my daily driver there...great on all the dirt roads and in the snow, but the freeways at rush hour there will be a miserable 45MPH in the slow lane LOL. And the UAF parking authority is probably going to laugh at me...Mile for mile though it shouldn't be too miserable with that as a daily driver, being I plan to live somewhere out the Chena Hot Springs road...where traffic is almost none...and who knows how fast that gets plowed!

I drive a 200 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4 with a 5.3L V8 and over 250,000 miles. Still runs and drives great and it has had very little done to it, nothing major. Though it has been wrecked once and they had to replace a fender and the hood, and now the clear coat from that is coming off. The thing is starting to rust but it has been extremely faithful and I can still trust it on longish trips and to start every time. Really good truck.
I also drive my Mom's 2005 Chrysler Town & Country from time to time and I hope to be getting a 1997 Plymouth Voyager running again.

I have a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. Mine is not diesel and has been an awesome car. I have had it seven years now. I've had to do some routine maintenance such as new brakes, a new water pump, and a new timing belt. Few things have gone wrong, most notably my alternator went out last year and a mass airflow sensor had to be fixed a few months ago. I installed new headlights and Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs last year after the original headlights oxidized. They are nice and bright and look brand new.
The non diesel Volkswagens are great cars and really reliable when properly maintained. I have enjoyed my Jetta very much and would recommend a Jetta if you're looking for a small sedan to replace a Corolla.

Since I last posted here I replaced my ancient Corolla with a Nissan Pulsar (Sentra in US) and my road trip car is now a 2005 Subaru Outback (based off the Subaru Legacy) as the Corolla was getting too old to maintain and the Ford was a write off in a crash last June (thanks to a red light runner. ) As for headlight bulbs I use Philips Xtremevision in all my cars.

Since I last posted the Silversmith I had been driving has been semi retired, now just sitting in the yard. I now drive a 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport that I bought off of my Granny. It has the 3.9L V6 and is only 2WD. It is a great little truck and only has 75K miles on it. I pretty much totalled it after having it almost 6 months...but was able to have a friend fix it up pretty much all the way, now I just have to unbend the frame, move the driver side control arm forward, and get al new tires and alignment. Oh and repainted, hopefully it doesn't cost too much.

Since my last post, I ended up passing on the Trooper, selling the Cherokee, and bought a 2014 F-150.
The ZX2 had developed a leaky transmission and a noisy input bearing. Also, it's fuel economy on a roadtrip wasn't what I had hoped it would be. The discovery of a limited slip differential for it on sale for Cyber Monday sealed the deal that the transmission was getting rebuilt and upgraded. New seals, the new differential, upgraded 3-4 shift fork, and the taller 5th gear from a later model ZX2 to improve highway cruise (the 98 models had a close ratio gearset with a short 5th, while the 2000-2003 models had a wider ratio gearset with a taller 5th). Also replaced the clutch, upgraded the intake, exhaust, and added a cruise control. I know it was done in the past, but 4000+ miles without cruise control wasn't fun! Next on it's list is new struts and it's 185,000 mile oil change.

Just picked up this last month. 1997 Isuzu Rodeo. 130,000 miles. no rust as it came from arizona. paint is bleached tho and the clear coat is coming off where the worst sun damage is. has your typical old vehicle problems but most everything works alright. even the cassette player and A/C works.
