Flat tires are no fun.  I hit a curb and got a flat tire one time in my car.  At least I was able to put on the spare and go to the tire store the next day to get a new, matching Michelin.

When I sniff the air in the tire shop to enjoy the smell and you look like a dork.

When I am watching a movie and my parents walk in during a blast of profanity and the remote is out of reach.

When I order a beer when everyone else wants to order a coke or a sweet tea.

When I make a pained expression on my face as I calculate in my head how much to tip at a restaurant.

When I jump up on a bicycle seat quickly and sit on my nuts the wrong way, ouch.

When I send an email and then recognize a typo 5 seconds after clicking send.

I've done the bicycle thing before, and the typo thing lol

When I walk head on into a sliding glass door.  Thankfully I was not carrying drinks when it happened to me like in this lovely picture.  Splat LOL!  ;D

There has been a few times when I've turned the door handle for my room but not enough as I walk in so I end up walking right into the door. :-[

Sometimes the springs in the door latch mechanism get stiff and require more force to turn the handle. Other times the door catch on the frame will prevent the door from working properly.

There's a door frame in the basement of my lake house that has began to split due to foundation settling and now the door jamb doesn't line up.  It leaves a huge crack, like that of a bathroom stall and really looks bad. I tried fixing it myself with a hammer to knock it back into place, but it didn't work. The door leads into a bedroom and I can imagine a spying eye watching me sleep through the crack in the misaligned door  :o That's one of many things the contractors will have to fix in the house.

With my house being from the late 1970s the door handles seem to be loosened up a bit with age so it is a fairly common occurence. I suppose they need retightening.  Today's awkward moment which I already mentioned on another thread is the caliper bolt snapping while changing brake pads on my X-Trail. Luckily I still have the Subaru in the meantime. I've had to use a long length of electrical cable and twisted it around the loose caliper, then limped the car to my mechanic which is a 5 minute drive from my house. It was rather awkward though having to pull over to let cars pass.  :-[

I had the alternator in my Jetta go out last summer. The car suddenly cut off while I sitting at a red light on a busy road in the city. The battery warning light on the dash flashed when the car shut off. I had to turn the key to start going again.  The other drivers were really annoyed having to pass by my disabled car.  I rolled down the window and motioned other cars behind me to pass and tried to make it obvious that I was having car troubles.  I turned on my hazards and drove to the Volkswagen shop where I have most of my car work done.

My 2004 Jetta has otherwise been an awesome car for 7 years now. I am considering a new car since I'll be going to New York for grad shool next year. I need something with 4 wheel drive that won't get stuck in the snow.

I'm considering a Subaru Outback or Volkswagen Touareg.

That awkward moment when:

I switch the letters up in a word and it comes out different than expected
I hang out with girlfriend and I go on my phone and the she just stares at me
I get caught doing something I’m not supposed to be doing and girlfriend catches me
I fall down and break a light that one of the pieces hits girlfriend, she inhales deeply than turns around slowly
My girlfriend uses her foot to make me stop doing something that involves wiring
When I get caught taking to my self
When girlfriend comes in front door only to find me sleeping on the floor
My girlfriend pushes me against a wall just to ask me questions in public
Trying to talk to someone and I can’t help it just to look at what’s on the ceiling behind them
I get driven by my girlfriend everywhere it’s as much awkward as it is embarrassing
I forever will have to accept that my girlfriend is older than me

Sending texts to either the wrong person or having them autocorrected is pretty awkward at times.

...you remove a screw too many when disassembling something and thousands of tiny springs and things fly to all points of the room, narrowly missing your eyes in the process  :o

I remember this happening at work once. I'd somehow managed to get a sheet of paper well and truly jammed in my printer, and despite all efforts I couldn't get it out, so I called the IT department. Three days later (that's quite fast for them..!) this guy and his mate turn up. They spend a good hour trying everything I had, to no effect, then one of them said to his mate, "Go and get the toolbox, Steve..!"

Well you know what's coming, don't you... As screw after screw came out, there was a loud 'PING' and said springs and cogs went everywhere. You have never seen anyone look so sheepish :D

I said to him, "You ARE going to buy me a new printer, aren't you..?!"

"Ummmm...."

"And it IS going to come out of your budget and not mine, isn't it..?!"

"Ummmm...."

The next day he knocked on the office door with a brand new printer, and it was the next model up from the one I had  :D

That Awkward Moment When:
You really hard about your past awkward moments and it takes you almost an hour to make a post o this thread
Getting stared at by my gf because at night my head follows the streetlight as we drive under them
Getting caught sneaking out
I get caught putting my ear against a transformer or a ballast to hear the buzz better
The crowd doesn't follow my orders
Sitting in a classroom that's completely silent then you mistakenly glide your foot against the floor making it squeak, suddenly you're putting your head down while covering your arms because every eyes shoot in your direction
St-st-st-st Stuttering fits happen

Here's one for me.  I'll go to a restaurant with somebody, and will always feel guilty if they are the one paying the bill, and will thus try to order the cheapest thing possible.  Similarly, I always find it awkward when they refuse my offer to pay the bill or leave a hefty tip for the waiter/waitress.

I disagree strongly with the practice of tipping. It encourages employers to pay minimum wages, as they think the workers will make it up in tips. They should pay proper wages so people don't need to rely on tips.

As someone who used to work in a bar I whole heartedly agree, having to rely on tips to make up your wages is an evil practice, as you can't guarantee making enough tips in a shift.  >:(

When you're texting someone about a guy who was their ex.. and auto-correct capitalizes the word "HIM" then trying to explain your way around that... because i was not meaning it like that... but the context of the sentence could of been taken a certain way in which I did not want it to be taken...
