The buzzing that tells the mercs are near

I've searched the Restore's far and wide,
I just found a Lifeguard, a buck eighty-five!

I will run it on my CWA gear so heavy,
Oh no, it shorted, it is oh so smelly!

I run back to Restore, in desperate hope,
To replace the ballast that went up in smoke.

I find the ballast, I go back home,
I am almost ready, when I step on the lamp, NO!

The lamp is trashed, what a waste of cash,
I hang my head and shout WHY, WHY, WHY!

Don't worry, the poem wasn't real. I would have added /DX, but it would not have rhymed as well.
So there was no death to any Lifeguards.

Mine WAS real, the first ever mercury lamp I bought, (a Thorn 80 watt BC3), rolled out of the loft hatch one evening, but instead of it hitting the soft carpet on the landing, it hit a tin of shoe polish with the precision of a scud missile, that was sat on top of the stairs!!

I do remember your reaction when I said we had got a box of 6 B22d-3 lamp holders for peanuts.! 

I hope you never have the same misfortune, but it’s Sod’s law the only lamp I have ever accidentally broke just happened to be the very first lamp I ever bought!!  What are the chances!!!
