I posted a comment on a picture from silverliner of a lamp isle at a supermarket and I am wondering where most people here buy there bulbs that you intend to actually use (Ex: to light your home and not for your collection) I get mine at BJ's wholesale club or Wal-mart

Lowe's for Sylvania products, ACE Hardware for GE Products. If I can't find anything cheaper online.

Just any good hardware store like home-depot will have all the bulbs "that you intend to actually use..to light your home".
But ALL my H.I.D. lamps which I actually use daily in winter months, like metal-halide, low-pressure-sodium to cramic-metal-halide, are from ebay. Very few fixtures or lamps I've found on craigslist, yet more are available..but can't drive to some as the distance to rare listings are sometimes large.
Good question. I'd like to see more responses, thanks.

I only bought lamps online (eBay) twice I bought a vintage Sylvania F20T12 which I do not have any longer as I gave it away in my only F20 fixture I also bought vintage GE F8T5 lamps from eBay (they are from the 1950-1970's I don't know how to tell except that have soldered pins)

where i find good lamps at cheap price Luckly i live near some supermarket (one of them is Leroy Merlin, an bricolage franchaising), ikea 20km far and an local hardware store 1km from my home, so getting the lamps isn't difficult. Obviously, getting good lamps is another pair of sleeves (i translated italian way to tell something of totally different), but thanks to this website, i learned to choose right lamps with good quality! (i learned here most 5mm leds are crap, and a lot of other tricks).

For me it depends, normal household lamps I get at Canadian Tire or Home Hardware (or others). Specialty lamps I get at the electrical supplier. Some obsolete, older versions no longer made etc. I get either at a local salvage yard or eBay. I also get some specialty lamps on eBay if the price is right. @marcopete87 : It's the first time I hear that expression in another language than French. We say 'une autre paire de manches' which translates exactly to 'another pair of sleeves'. Nice to know it exists in Italian as well !

90% of my bulbs are bought at Mardens, a surplus and salvage store with locations across the state of Maine. Surplus and salvage means they buy remaining inventory from stores which have either gone out of business or were destroyed by some force majeure, and then resell it at a discount price.

You can spell "Menards" from "Mardens."

I bought some stuff from here for work, they now spam me with promotions. Here's a link to their clearance page: https://www.1000bulbs.com/category/clearance/They have some pretty interesting stuff on sale: F6T5/WW for $0.55 each, F48T12 meat and produce display lamps (must be rare), 1 lamp VHO/PG ballasts, and warm color MH lamps. I love 1000Bulbs. It's not often that I buy lamps for myself from them, but I use them for lamps and ballasts for my school (they let me order stuff since I work on their lights anyway).
