This is way too cool. This video comes from LG member Parrot, who is no longer active here. He found at his college a 4-foot troffer which houses what appears to be an F30T8 lamp, on a magnetic preheat ballast. However, it's manual preheat, and the preheat switch is actually built into the light switch! You flip the switch like any light switch, then push it up a bit more, and it preheats, then let go and it starts. I've never seen anything like it; it's so cool! The switch is made by GE.

I wonder why Parrot isn't active on LG anymore? I'm subscribed on YT, but it would cool if he was still around on here.

I don't know, but it sure is a shame. He has at least a couple hundred light bulbs he's acquired since he was last active, including stuff so rare it would be all the rage here.

Yeah, he's found some NOS Lifeguards, some NOS Sylvania Cleartops, Clearbanders, at least one vintage fluorescent fixture, all sorts of fun stuff. Maybe he was being harassed or something?

I asked him once why not upload some of his new stuff here, and his response was that he would, but he hasn't logged on in a long time, so he doesn't know if anyone would remember him. He did say he still visits here frequently as a guest, though. His account says he last logged on April of 2013.

Well at any rate, it's none of my business. Maybe he'll see this thread and decide to jump back in.
