These show up on ebay from time to time.
I have one of these, but they run very hot and I would not trust it running without supervision. :o

A little high priced, but looks real good from the 1940s.
I like how the ballasts are in a vented can. :D

The one that has been sold was sold to me, probably the better part of a year ago. ;D

Are these good ballasts?
I have been thinking of buying one of these as a spare for my 1941 industrial Fleur-o-ray.
The original GE Tulamp ballast works fine, but being 73 years old, it could start having problems at some point.

I am getting closer to the age of the Tulamp ballast myself, but I have not blown a winding or started spewing any tar yet.
But I could start any day. ;D

Mine has been working fine. These are thermally protected and non-PCB, so much safer than the old Tulamp bricks.

This brick is 1 1/2 amp fused and I have attached a 189 deg F thermal cutout link to the hot end of the Brick that will cut off the power to the brick on electrical over load or over heat.
So far anyway using a infrared thermometer, and after eight hours of operation, it never went over 140 deg.F

But as other LG members have said, don't leave it on unattended.
Good advice. ;D

I have a lot of the Power Lighting Products, Valmont and GE 8G1000 ballasts.  They are good ballasts.
