My oldest bulb in my collection is either the Sylvania f15t8 CW (Nov 1966) or the Westy f30t8 CW (Between Jan 1965 to Dec 1969)

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

Oldest would be the box of carbon filament lamps, pre 1939.
There were some 1960's lamps, but they went to Sailormoon fo0r his collection.

Hmm, let's see:
Mercury- A late 50's Radiant brand 175 I think
HPS- some late 70s Sylvania 100 and 150w
MH- an early 80s GE Multivapor 175
Streetlighting incandecent- lots of 40s/50s GE Mazda 103, 189, 202, 327 and up
Domestic incandescent- I'm dumb here, but presumed early 1900s pointy-tipped misc. stuff
Fluorescent- 50s Sylvania F40CW, 60s GE Mainlighters
Probably more I'm forgetting!

Nice collection you got here! Also welcome to Lighting-Gallery.net!   My name is Jace, I am an administrator of this website, if you need any help, questions, comments, just email me or PM me and let me know!

By the way the GE Mazdas would be from before 50s, they removed the "Mazda" trademark in 1946.  Email me if you would like me to date your HPS Sylvania lamps. I can date Sylvania HIDs and Westinghouse HIDs from the datecodes on the etchs, I can also date all Philips lamps and so most members in this page can, Dave (Silverliner) and Jerry (jercar954) can date most of the fluorescent lamps! To check email address, look in member's profiles also you can use personal message feature to privately talk to members including me. Well enjoy the site!

Hey Jace! Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for the generalities with the list. I could probably date the lamps better if I go out in the garage and dig them up. The good thing about the 70s and 80s stuff is I handled it, purchased it or installed it while I was working at Penna. Power And Light while working there! I was lucky to have worked there in the 80s and got to keep alot of great old lamps, fixtures, photocontrols, arms, you name it. They let me take alot of the old fixture catalogs and photos from the archives too. Basically a dream job. Nobody had any sense of the historic nature of some of the stuff, and I think they thought I was nuts for wanting the stuff!

I have some good ones!  Not sure of the dates but the fixtures are from the 40s through the 70s!  I never knew the GE Mazda lamps were so old.  I have one in my old desk lamp.  I need to remove and put it away.  Got a lot of old Westinghouse F40T12 preheat lamps, Lots of "Mainlighter" GE F40s and the "Lifeline" Sylvania F40s.  Got some 6 foot "Powergroove" GE T17s and the 5 foot F90T17 preheat Westinghouse lamps (mogul bi pin)....ALL run with preheat ballasts.
 ;D ;D
I LOVE preheat fluorescents!
