Ballast factor of Magnetic F96T12 Ballasts « on: November 03, 2013, 01:16:10 PM » Author: streetlight98
Hey guys. I am wondering, do magnetic F96T12 slimline ballasts have different ballast factors like F40 ballasts or is the ballast factor pretty consistant among different brands and ballasts?

If it differs, what is the most common ballast factor for a F96T12 slimline ballast? Do they typically run at full power or at a reduced power like a cheaper F40T12/RS 0.73A ballast.

Thanks,

-Mike

Hey Mike, I'm really not the best person to answer your question but I'll give you something to consider for now...from what I understand the older slimline ballasts were full-power (Not sure what that is in amps) like a .80 amp HPF magnetic RS F40 ballast, while newer ones are a reduced current (and light output) like the .73 amp magnetic RS ballasts.  And older ones might not take as kindly to 60w "energy saver" lamps, just like older F40 ballasts don't like 34w lamps.

Ahh I see. I was wondering because I'm trying to calculate the actual lumen rating of a 2X F96T12 slimline fixture but if the ballasts don't run the lamps at 1 BF then I can't compute it unless i know the true ballast factor. thanks for pointing me in the correct general direction  though Andy.  :)

I know that lower ballast factor slimline ballasts were made, but I don't know the power rating of them.
