History of Electripak appreciated! :-) « on: June 14, 2013, 03:58:16 PM » Author: MikeT1982
Hey guys, I am assuming this company is no longer in business  and possibly since the 1990's sometime as I bought my 35 watt HPS Wallpack in spring of 1993 and still use it today.  It has traveled from house to house and in 2010 had its second bulb installed to replace the OEM generic, a Sylvania Lumalux which I absolutely love.  The lamp has always been on a roof peak under shading so only shows limited wear and has always been on switch operation (has no photocell). I must get some pics as this is my oldest lighting possession and still serves me to this day. . I have always wondered for some history on the Electripak company, any would be appreciated! Thanks ahead of time! :-)

I don't know a great deal myself, but I would like to.  I think they existed from the early-mid-80s until around 1997 or 1998.  I think they might have been a consumer division of American Electric (originally owned by FL Industries and later Thomas & Betts).  I think they shut down due to pressure from importers like Heath Zenith and the Designers Edge.

Interesting, wasn't sure if they still were in business or not, evidently they aren't...
I do know they made some interesting security lights though, along with other products...
Would my 1993 ElectriPak yardlight at my house in Alaska be USA-made by any chance?

It might say where it was made, but most likely would have been on the box.  Many of their higher end fixtures were taken right off the main American Electric assembly line, and thus made in the USA, but some of their lower residential only fixtures were imported, usually from Mexico.  I do have some ElectriPak fluorescent porch lights that were made in Taiwan.

Mine didn't have a box; I got it used.
See my gallery for the whole story on that fixture...
