Sylvania to stop production of ALL F40T12 and F96T12 lamps? « on: June 27, 2012, 03:14:17 PM » Author: Powell
My Sylvania dealer gave me a booklet Osram printed and told me they got a letter stating that as of the July date there would be NONE of these lamps manufactured. I wonder if they changed their minds about making new phosphors......... and newer lamps?

ouch that would really sucks and they make the best tubes of today. >:( would that mean the CWX tubes going too and the 5000k F96 and F40 T12? so that means used tube going be in high demand as well. i hope the lighting contractor are saving T12 tubes for resale in the future instead of bulb eating them. and it done the right way around let the second hand consumer use them.

I emailed Sylvania to confirm this. Will let you know when I hear back from them.

Not surprised, think it has been coming for a while really.

If not this time then it surely won't be long. There's very few in Australia as it is...

I heard back from Sylvania. No, the F40T12 and F96T12 lamps are not being totally phased out. The CWX, DX, and DSGN50 colors will still be available, and yes they will come out with a 900 series triphosphor lamp in color temps ranging from 3000K up to 6500K. They sent me an attached file in PDF that confirms this. The file is called DOE2012final - Lamp Replacement Guide 2-1-12.pdf, maybe you can search it on the Sylvania website.
