Marketing lies for electronic ballasts, in professional articles « on: May 29, 2012, 08:17:43 AM » Author: Ash
So this is one of the ways to push electronic ballasts to unsuspecting councils in "professional" documents, if you wondered

I was searching for some other material online right now, and stumbled upon this PDF file

file

A picture on page 16 attracted my attention : The picture is attached below. The text under it says :

Replacing electromagnetic ballasts of streetlight in Beer Sheva (left picture) to efficient electronic ballasts (right picture) - brighter, more efficient lighting that brought significant economical savings. The picture courtesy of Metrolight

What i see here is not more efficient ballasts, but either different exposure time (as suggested by the white line behind the electric pole in the bright picture, which is probably a star in the sky), or Photoshop

The pictures were in fact taken within minutes from each other. As can be seen, the position of everything and the zoom is identical which means same location of the camera. Second, when i brightened the dark picture in Paint, i found that the star behind the electrical pole is just a bit higher in the sky - which says exactly how much time elapsed between the pictures

If you have translation software read through the document. It can make some things brighten up, including other behavior of the Metrolight company and some more impossible claims

Ash: Because this PDF is so long, I have no force to read it thoroughly. But with the two pictures of Beer Sheva streetlighting you attached, I agree with you:
1. They took two pictures of Beer Sheva streetlighting: One picture is underexposed while the other is overexposed.
2. They took one picture of Beer Sheva streetlighting and processed it with Photoshop to make two pictures: One darker and one brighter.
The first opinion looks to me more correct.
Also, who said that HID lamps on electronic ballasts are MORE efficient? The increased efficiency of lamps on electronic ballasts, achieved only with fluorescent and LPS lighting.
The slight increased efficiency in HID lamps up to 150W is only because of lower electronic ballast loses and NOTHING ELSE. With 250W and over, electronic ballasts have HIGHER loses than magnetic ballasts.
Also, who said that streetlighting accounts for the majority of the greenhouse gases production?
Also, who said to install timers for air conditioners? These are sockets with mechanical timers, in which the air conditioners are connected, that aren't a part of the air conditioner systems and physically connects and disconnects the air conditioners from the mains at specific hours. With electronic air conditioners, this is a recipe for distroying the electronic cards of the air conditioners. Better to use the timers that integrated in the electronic cards of the air conditioners themselves. These devices are to be used ONLY with mechanical air conditioners from the 80' and earlier.

Edit: Unbelievable!!! This false academic article with the staged pictures, was published by the Technion! :o :o :o

Preserving the Brightest Ideas of Our Age

This is the most common form of deception exhibited by anybody who "has a barrow to push", i.e something to sell, in this case electronic control gear. If "bending the truth" or even telling outright lies, brings in more money, then the temptation and motovation to do it exists and is usually taken.
It is discernment and common sense which usually exposes their deceptive behavor, in this case Ash's discernment at spotting star trails to determine exposure times.
People who have "squirreled" their way into a corporate structure, and "trodden on heads" to climb to a "position of importance" within that structure have usually spent so much time and effort in "manipulating others" that they have totally forgotten the physics and the facts. Electron and photons "don't care" what games people play...

Type into Google, "Lamp Bank" or "Pan European Lamp Bank", (Note the grandiose important sounding titles!), take a good look around. Take note of the "Big Cheese" behind his desk with his fingers locked in front of him and his pretty wife on another page.... Decide for yourself is it "kosher".... but keep it to yourself as you laugh until you wet yourself!
