Well we have now! If only stuff was still made like them today! I got conformation today that NO T12 LAMPS WILL BE DISCONTINUED!! So the 8 foots are good to stay for a minute or 2!!

Excellent news that T12s reprieved. Is this public knowledge? Back to Cryselco 44's the single versions of the 5ft and 8ft battens were used up to 1983 in my local John Lewis store when they had a foodmarket separate in their basement. Warm white 29 Cryselco lamps were used over the aisles whilst natural 25s lit the delicatessen. All lamps made by GEC. Quality lamps in quality workhorse battens, they seemed to last forever. As far as I know Cryselco still exist and have luminaires manufactured for them, certainly up to 2009 or earlier last year when I last looked. Good find Kevin.

Bet u wished it was ur own :) courtney pope based in Tottenham - far as known they only ever did fixtures and did not supply lamps in-brand. Cryselco are separate company based in Bedfordshire and haven't supplied lamps for decades - in 60s 70s and 80s they had their own etch-plates at GEC and every so often Philips would help out. Sadly, no more 44's! Thought that on 45th bday -lol anyhow they probably only do T5, Led and Cfl downlighters now, like everywhere else, and may even import fittings from far east as you don't hear a lot about them these days Kev.

See everyone thinks Thorn From the 60-80s Era was the best and nothing came close however there were a lot that were just as good (dare i say this) If not better! The courtney-Pope fittings i have are VERY VERY well made, ther was also Thorlux at the time with nice well made thick metal fittings and ofcorse Cryselco too! All were just as good as Thorn!!

I would love to see see (in person) how these compare to some vintage fixtures in USA from Sylvania, Miller, Westinghouse, Mitchell, etc.
Do yall's premium quality vintage lights have porcelain reflectors?  That stuff is unbeatable for durability, light reflectiveness, ease of cleaning and beauty!
