Did anyone encounter a lamp that eneaked past the quality check folks such as clear fluorescent when they should be coated?

Why I like LEDs on top of other lighting tech?
LEDs = Upgrade 95% of the applications. (That is if you avoid eBay's LEDs).

LED brainwash? No, people uses them cuz they work well for them.

you know....a lot of the current HPS lamps (except for GE brands) do not have the amalgam....and also they have been using xenon....more........some of my xenon filled HPS lamps would not fire up my old 1976 McGraw HPS fixture!!!!! It is because it requires higher ignitor starter power to fire it up and the older HPS didn't require that....

I meant those lamps that still have sodium but mercury reduced or replaced by xenon as I was educated....also a lot of the newer HPS do not have amalgam....only the GE still uses them... Hey Max...I also have a question...I was given a brand new HPS which was tried in a streetlight but was defected and they took it out as soon as it was put in....... The problem was when I try it it only makes a "lighting shaped arc" inside the arc tube and the ignitor would keep triggering it and the HPS would not start up but making the lighting shaped arc.....what would be the problem??? (the HPS looks BRAND NEW)  I even tried the 5000 volts 30 ma transformer on the HPS and it made a clean purplish arc with an orange glow in the end...........I will post a pic if this bulb soon.....

I have a Sylvania R-20 reflector lamp (R-63 in mm) where they forgot to coat the inside with aluminum coating. So it's just a reflector lamp with lightly frosted glass and no aluminum coating LOL.

still confusing!  how is it possible to have phosphor on the outside of the lamp? it would just rub off!
