This one says "self ballasted" so it apparently has an electronic ballast on board and I got it running just fine off of a transformer feeding 240v. 

It's intended to be screwed into any standard 175W mercury vapor fixtures and claims power use of 75W (65+10W ballast loss from existing ballast).

If you guys are interested in trying out, I can probably get you some.  They're like $6 a piece.

I still have them for sale.  Hit me up if you're interested.  I will ship anywhere in world. This one's actually got a ballast in it.  Its surprising how much range it will operate in.  It will run on straight 120v, through a mercury ballast, or on 240v straight.
