Maybe this is the wrong place to post this but IDK.
I have an unbranded lamp labeled 400W Diazo. This is meant for making what are essentially blueprints but with a white background and blue lines instead of the other way around. This lamp is used, and running it on my plain 400W CWA ballast yields only cycling behavior. I hear that
some of these lamps are meant to be run on 400W CWA ballasts with upgraded capacitors to actually run on 500W, and I tried it and it does run continuously with an extra 2.5uF added to the capacitance. I don’t know if it is meant to run like that or not. This lamp almost certainly emits near-UV/blacklight, may or may not emit UV A and B, but
likely not UV C. It is classic BT37 shape and mogul base. You can see pictures of it here:

very first HID lamp. I saw it at an old store, and I bought it for very cheap. I thought it would just be a normal white 400W lamp, so I eventually came to Lighting Gallery to find out more about HID lamps. This led me to buy a 400W CWA ballast and try to power it. Long story short, this strange lamp is what got me into HID lighting and brought me to Lighting Gallery.
I know I am lucky for my very first HID lamp to be a fairly rare one. Should I keep it for the sentimental value? Just because it is rare? I am definitely going to hold on to it a little longer (at least until I graduate high school and move out) because I
do have the space to store it right now, but I might not have much space for it later. If I
were to get rid of it, I would probably give it away free to someone young just starting out like I was/am, or for a reasonable trade to someone who has more.
What do you all think?
What is your motivation for selling or trading?
