SON & SOX Installations 2020-2025?? « on: March 04, 2025, 02:42:47 AM » Author: Eleco_SR304
For some reason, I have noticed that the highways ('A' Roads) have been installing both SON & SOX lanterns between 2020 and 2025. I have no clue if they possibly don't want to use 1 LED lantern and rest of them are HID or they possibly ran out of LED. However, by them doing this, I have discovered new fixtures but the main reason why are they doing this?

Here are some Examples:

Usually I collect bulbs (Mostly LED) and some HID ones. I also own a couple of streetlights, but most are made in Poland.

However, I mostly prefer SOX bulbs. LED bulbs in their efficacy will never beat SOX bulbs, in my opinion.

Dis these high pressure sodium and low pressure sodium street lights happen to replace any LED street lights somehow?

If they happened to do so, it would be a funny, but pleasant surprise.

For some reason the cu Phosco P680 (top right) is the only SON lantern left on the road, all of the other lanterns are all LED.  It looks funny to see one SON lantern left on the road, but at least they left this particular one alone

There are the LED replacements:

My guess is they had spares which they didn't want to waste.

Could of been- I wouldn't been surprised if they removed the lanterns 10 years ago and now they are using them for highways replacements  :bulbman:

Still I think it is a good point?  ???
