I was at the gas station pumping gas. When I was done, I sat back in my car. Someone in what looked to be an Escalade, pulled up to the gas pump behind the gas pump I was using. He rolled down his window, and signaled to me to roll down mine. I gave him the "give me a second" hand gesture before starting up my car, and then I rolled down my window expecting him to comment on my car, as this has happened to me multiple times at that gas station. He began speaking the Arabic language to me, then he stopped and asked if I was Arabic... I let him know that I didn't know the Arabic language. He then spoke English... asking me to pay for his gas, and then showed some supposedly expensive ring, claiming it was real gold. He told me that he would give me that ring in exchange for gas. I told him that I gotta go, and he quickly looked away before driving off... ... what... was...... that. I don't get it. First off, why the HECK would I use any bit of MY MONEY to help you pay for gas, when you're driving some extremely expensive SUV, showing off an expensive ring? Secondly, I'm aware of scammers... I take pride in the huge amount of hatred I have for all things scams and scammers... I care nothing of their lives. Is this some sort of scam that I should be aware of? Thirdly, that is the second time this has happened to me at that gas station... first time being a couple years ago while I was on my motorcycle. I'm pretty sure that was the same SUV, but today the driver seemed like some punk kid, unlike last time. Has this ever happened to any of you? Also worth noting... it looked like that SUV had a lot of people inside of it.

My hunch is probably.
In the downtown parts of my city, you have people come up to you and ask for money for a bus/train/subway ticket...except I'm pretty sure that's not the first time I've seen them ask me the same question before. Then there are the people that just straight up ask you for change, etc.

That is very strange!
I had a while ago, come out of Lowes and some old guy comes by on a bike randomly, wanting to show me an old picture he has on his phone of himself from Vietnam. Then he just said, “God bless you, young man” and rode off.
Then a few weeks later I saw the same guy come up to me while I was at the gas station filling, and this time he walked up and said they stopped his Medicare “temporarily” and asked for money.
Very strange. I also avoid these scams.
I also had a man come up to my car at Walmart walking a bicycle and asked for money for a new tire.
Yep definitely avoid these types of scammers. A lot of people would also, ask for money in the parking lot at Crossings shopping center here, but I haven’t seen it awhile. One time a lady asked me for change when I was getting out of my car to go to Habitat. She quite scared me, because I didn’t see her behind my car, until I had gotten out of it. 😮

Sounds like you missed out on a chance to have a plated plastic replica of a real gold ring.

@icefoglights, yep. Sounds like it. Likely a replica... pure garbage, much like the scammer that held it. It's so weird how people think that those scams actually work, and they make the attempts to actually go forward with those scams. Idiots. Special hatred goes to those people anytime I encounter them. Uncontrollable rage... people like that can sometimes make it even more difficult for those that are truly suffering, due to true lack of income. Next time this "ring" scam happens to me again, I will LAUGH in their faces before drowning out their audible mouth filth with my loud exhaust as I drive away. I like that gas station, (Murphy's) and I typically go there anytime I need gas... but I guess I should refrain from going there with my sportcar or motorcycle, if it means I avoid attracting people like that. I'll just go to other nearby gas stations instead.

Hope the MV bulb lives long

If you hear stuff like they'd trade you a Golden ring, This is definitely a scam.

Usually I collect bulbs (Mostly LED) and some HID ones. I also own a couple of streetlights, but most are made in Poland.
However, I mostly prefer SOX bulbs. LED bulbs in their efficacy will never beat SOX bulbs, in my opinion.

Yep, that's what they said. "I'll give you this ring if you give me gas. This is real gold...", something along those lines. ... while driving an extremely expensive Escalade, with more than one person in it. Classic scamming idiots.

Yeah the luxury SUV is a telltale.
Another common one are the people that come up to you with a "good deal" on some electronics they have extras of like a sound system, big screen TV, etc. Usually the stuff does work, but is worth 1/10th of the value that they claim and is usually junk anyway.

Generally, if anyone comes up to me in public who I do not know, and starts speaking to me, I assume they are either trying to ask for money, or it’s a scam. Because it’s never been for any other reason at all, and this is why i refuse to speak to strangers at all. I totally ignore anyone I come across, don't acknowledge them, don’t make eye contact. much easier in life that way… Most people do not want to talk to strangers anyway.
