@Medved: these are still abused because are at their EOL. When I saved these lamps from the scrap were in this condition and are in my collection since a couple of years. The abuse would be throwing them away, a thing which I don't want to do

haha John, you should bring a continuity meter with you to the recycle place, grab a LOAD of EOL lamps with intact electrodes, and stick them in  all of your preheaters! That would be fun!
