16 Single Lamp HPF Rapid/Trigger Start magnetic Ballasts. « on: January 28, 2025, 09:37:29 PM » Author: suzukir122
Okay, so I'm officially selling 16 of my Rapid Start based ballasts: 11 HPF Trigger Start ballasts, and 5 PL-L 18W HPF Rapid Start ballasts. These have
been sitting in my garage, both in my old apartment and my current apartment. I've determined that I will never use these ballasts, so I've decided to go
ahead and post them on Facebook Marketplace, for $160. (Or best offer.)
All 11 of those Trigger Start ballasts are 0.28 amp single lamp ballasts -- full power. They run lamps very nice and bright, and are definitely some
of the best Trigger Start ballasts ever made... so of course, this was not an easy decision, but I refuse to keep ballasts that I will never use.
Message me if interested... but keep in mind this is unfortunately for pick up only, as of now, so these may be tough for me to sell.

I don't think you'll be able to sell them for $160 on Marketplace... eBay, maybe, if the algorithm chooses you to be the seller that they promote to their users, but with Marketplace sellers basically giving away HID and fluorescent stuff for free (NOS 80s Philips cases for $20) I don't see anyone jumping the gun unless it's another collector who uses Facebook and resides locally.

I've thought about this as well... there aren't many lighting collectors here in Ohio, at least not many that I know of, and there certainly aren't
any lighting collectors nearby. That, and those sellers willing to sell for insanely cheap, (or for free) has me reluctant to post anything lighting
related to Marketplace. I'll still keep my post up on Marketplace just incase someone nearby does decide they want these ballasts, but there's a good
chance I may end up posting this on Ebay, and completely deleting the listing on Marketplace. It's epic seeing people selling their vintage lighting
for free or insanely cheap, and I'd normally do the same if I weren't selling these in mass. I want all 16 ballasts gone. lol... so I may decide Ebay
instead. Shipping things is my biggest issue as of now -- I've got to learn how to ship! Once that happens, I'll probably create a mini lighting store
on Ebay, since I do have more ballasts that I want to sell... but this sale that I'm running currently, will be the only sale where I sell a high amount
of ballasts all at once.

Regarding shipping, I can teach you. I run a side business with my dad which requires constant packing and shipping. It's really not difficult, I promise. I've been doing it since age 12...

@Maxim, I wouldn't mind learning more about shipping. So far I've given it a shot through Ebay, but haven't learned much about how to ship.
@Bulbman256, the 11 HPF Trigger Start magnetic ballasts are for F14T12, F15T12 and F20T12 tubes. (T8 lamps included as well.)
The 5 HPF Rapid Start magnetic ballasts are for PL-L 18w lamps.

USPS flat rate boxes all have set shipping prices regardless of the weight of what's inside . As the advert says " If it fits , it ships !"  A large flat rate box cost around $26.50 to ship .

The flat rate boxes would probably be the best way to ship domestically, especially for dense items such as ballasts. Just make sure to reinforce the bottom of the box with additional cardboard and pack the ballasts so they don't rattle around and "run away" during shipping. Happened to a few members that bought ballasts that were packed poorly.

To be honest I would be open to shipping and eBay as these items are niche enough to not have buyers trying to sell only locally. Shipping isn't too hard, even internationally. It's basically the same thing as shipping domestically, just with some additional paperwork the at post office. I've done a few trades with members here, most of which involving shipping internationally.

I'll have to look more into everything... the post office is literally walking distance from my apartment.
Once I finally figure out all the details regarding shipping, I do have more ballasts to sell, including Trigger Start ballasts,
Manual Start ballasts, (Can those ballasts be reused as Preheat ballasts?) and also, all six electronic T8 ballasts that came with
the 3 footer fixtures, etc.
