Has anyone ever seen the incandescent fixtures with 12” or so enamel shade being used?

I saw one such fixture on the back of an old house, when I went to an estate sale. I tried to take a picture, but it didn’t turn out due to rain.

I also remember a house down the street from me, used to have one on the front, but it was removed a long time ago.

I’m guessing these fixtures were often used with 200 watt incandescent bulbs. But became obsolete more when HID fixtures such as mercury vapor came along.

Many of the old ones seem to have a porcelain enamel shade that is green on top and white underneath.

I also have a modern version that I ordered from Home Depot that is gray on top of the shade and the arm, and white under the shade.

Collect vintage incandescent and fluorescent fixtures. Also like HID lighting and streetlights.

There's lots of 'em around here in rural northern Michigan!

Here are three I've photographed:

I'm rather fond of that style light fixture and always appreciate when I see them in the wild.

There's a few on poles near a trailer park that I know of, but I don't think they've been used for several decades. I'll get good pics at some point. In the meantime, you can see them on street view.

I've seen some occasionally. I think there might be one on my great uncle's old barn.
